What we collect
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read, which links get clicked, and roughly where readers come from. It records things like page paths, approximate geographic region, device type, referring site, and events such as a click on a product link. It is configured for measurement, not for advertising, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles or run remarketing. Google acts as our data processor for this; their handling is governed by Google’s privacy policy.
Affiliate links
When you click a product link, you pass through a redirect on this domain (/go/...) and arrive at the retailer — almost always Amazon — with our Associates tracking tag attached. The retailer sets a cookie so that if you buy something, the sale is credited to us. That cookie is set by the retailer under their privacy policy, not by us, and we never receive your name, address, payment details or order contents. We see only aggregate reports saying that a sale of some item occurred. The redirect itself stores nothing. How the commercial side works is set out in the affiliate disclosure.
The contact form
If you write to us, we receive the name, email address, topic and message you submit, delivered to our inbox by email. We use it to reply to you and to action any correction you report — nothing else. It is never added to a mailing list (there is no mailing list) and never sold or shared for marketing. Correspondence is kept only as long as it is useful for the conversation and any follow-up.
The form applies basic automated anti-spam checks — a hidden field, how long the form took to fill in, and a submission limit per network address. Nothing about those checks is retained beyond the length of the request.
Server logs
The site is hosted on Vercel, which keeps standard operational request logs (IP address, user agent, requested path, timestamps) for security and reliability. We do not mine those logs to identify individuals.
What we do not do
- No accounts, no passwords, no profiles — there is nothing to log into.
- No newsletter and no email capture anywhere on the site.
- No selling or renting of personal information to anyone, ever.
- No advertising networks, no retargeting pixels, no social tracking widgets.
- No payments taken on this site, so no card or banking details are ever handled here.
- Nothing knowingly collected from children under 13. This is a site about buying appliances.
Your choices
- Analytics. Browser privacy settings, a tracker-blocking extension, or Google’s own opt-out add-on will stop analytics collection. The site works identically either way.
- Affiliate cookies. Clearing cookies or browsing privately removes them. Nothing on this site is gated behind accepting one.
- Your data. If you have written to us and want the correspondence deleted, ask and it will be deleted. Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict use of personal data, and to object to processing — including under the GDPR and the CCPA/CPRA. Email us and we will honor the request; we will not ask you to prove residency first.
Data transfers and security
The site is served from a global content network and our email is handled by Microsoft, so data may be processed in the United States and other countries. Everything is served over HTTPS. No method is perfectly secure, but there is also very little here to steal — the deliberate consequence of not collecting much.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the effective date above changes with it and the substance of the change will be described here rather than quietly swapped in.
